Acceptable use policy

Acceptable Use Policy

Duyve is built for personal dispatches to private groups. This policy explains the boundary between thoughtful personal sending and misuse.

Last updated: June 13, 2026. Legal version: 1.0

This Acceptable Use Policy applies to your use of Duyve ("we", "us", "our"), a personal dispatch platform operated by Viktor. It forms part of our Terms of Service and is designed to protect recipients, users, and email deliverability.

By using Duyve, you agree to follow this policy. If you are unsure whether a use is allowed, contact us at hello@duyve.app before sending.

1. Intended Use

Duyve is for personal, non-commercial communication. It lets individuals create designed email dispatches and send them to private clubs made up of people who have a real connection to the sender.

  • Create personal dispatches for people you personally know
  • Send updates to private clubs made up of friends, family, classmates, colleagues, or other real personal connections
  • Invite people to join a club through a Duyve invite link
  • Add someone manually only when you have their permission to email them
  • Share your own photos, writing, and personal updates in a respectful way

2. Recipient Consent

You may only send dispatches to recipients who have permissioned that relationship. Consent can come from someone joining through your invite link or from permission you have before manually adding them.

  • Every recipient must be someone you personally know or someone who intentionally joined your club
  • You must not add addresses from purchased, rented, scraped, harvested, or publicly available lists
  • You must not guess, generate, or automatically collect email addresses
  • You must not re-add someone who unsubscribed, complained, or asked not to receive your dispatches
  • You are responsible for making sure your club lists stay accurate and permission-based

Duyve may log consent confirmations, timestamps, and IP addresses to document that recipients were added responsibly.

3. Prohibited Use

You may not use Duyve for spam, commercial outreach, harmful content, technical abuse, or any activity that puts recipients, Duyve, or third-party infrastructure at risk.

  • Send unsolicited email, bulk spam, or commercial marketing campaigns
  • Use Duyve for advertising, lead generation, sales outreach, affiliate promotion, or political campaigning
  • Use Duyve as a CRM, newsletter blast tool, or marketing automation workaround
  • Use misleading subject lines, sender names, invite links, or unsubscribe wording
  • Impersonate another person, organisation, school, club, or brand
  • Send illegal, hateful, harassing, threatening, sexually explicit, exploitative, or discriminatory content
  • Send non-consensual intimate content or content that exploits, endangers, or sexualizes minors
  • Send phishing attempts, scams, malware, fraudulent requests, or misleading links
  • Upload content that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, publicity, privacy, or confidentiality rights
  • Bypass rate limits, usage limits, unsubscribe handling, security controls, or abuse detection
  • Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to create accounts, import contacts, or send dispatches
  • Operate multiple accounts to avoid limits, enforcement, or prior suspension

4. Unsubscribes and Complaints

Every dispatch includes an unsubscribe link. You must respect unsubscribe requests, complaints, and direct requests not to be contacted. You may not remove, hide, alter, or bypass unsubscribe functionality.

If a recipient complains, we may review the related account, dispatch, consent information, and sending history to determine whether this policy was followed.

5. Abuse Prevention

We use usage limits, rate limits, unsubscribe handling, file validation, consent logging, and technical monitoring to reduce misuse. We may block suspicious activity automatically or manually review accounts that show unusual sending patterns.

You may not interfere with these protections or use any workaround to avoid them.

6. Enforcement

We may take action when we believe this policy has been violated or when activity creates risk for recipients, Duyve, or our email delivery providers. The action depends on the severity and context of the issue.

ActionWhen it may apply
WarningFor minor or accidental issues where correction is appropriate
Sending limitsWhen activity patterns create deliverability or recipient-safety concerns
Content removalWhen dispatches or uploads violate this policy or applicable law
Account suspensionFor serious, repeated, or high-risk violations
Account terminationFor spam, fraud, illegal activity, evasion, or severe abuse

Serious violations may be reported to relevant service providers or authorities where required by law.

7. Reporting Abuse

If you receive unwanted email from Duyve or believe someone is misusing the platform, use the abuse reporting page or contact hello@duyve.app. Please include the sender, recipient email address, approximate send time, and any relevant details so we can investigate.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify account holders when appropriate.
